I am also a huge Pearl Jam fan....when they announce a tour, their website blows the fuck up!! Mad people be on there!! This place is fucking dead! I don't get it!! I know the Deftones have plenty of fans...where the fuck are they all?!
also.....us Pearl Jam fans get together at pre-parties before each show (on the day of the show) to get our drink & smoke on and to hang out with like minded peeps...y'all should do this too...it's a cool way to meet fellow fans and make new friends!

why? because they just announced a tour...it's time to rejoice and share your excitement!!!
I for 1 am VERY FUCKING EXCITED!!! This tour made my fucking year!! I love having some goods shows to look forward to while i slave away at my job....that shit is like light at the end of the tunnel!! ya know what i'm say'n?!
Yay for bland boring al rock that has been watered down by bands like Creed, Staind, Puddle of Mudd, Nickelback.

I was a big contributor on here around the Saturday Night Wrist era. I think there was a lot more of a mystique to the band then. There was also lots of obscure Deftones tracks that were shared around then. Now when I come here or elsewhere online there is seldom anything I haven't heard before aside from the new songs on Diamond Eyes. I kind of liked it more when they'd do obscure covers and unexpected live renditions. It made it exciting to keep up to date and track down bootlegs.

I have been to 14 Pearl jam shows in the past 3 and 1/2 years.....I had an awesome time at every show...because not only are they worl class musicians and are dope as hell live...but their fans kick fucking ass!! It's like a community...we all hook each other up and look out for one another...that's the way shit should be!! so pop shit if you want...but if you haven't been to a PJ concert then you don't know shit about what i'm talking about.
fuck it though...I'll be that fool at the Deftones shows getting fucked up in the lot and smiling from ear to ear..happy as hell and appreciating the fuck out of this amazing band!

I heard that! that is another thing that Pearl jam does...their setlists vary so much from show to show...and once in awhile they will bust out a real rare cover or one of their old tunes they hadn't played in years.....Imagine being at a Deftones show and they all of the sudden start playing Gift or Answers!! That shit would be awesome!!
that would be awesome if they started playing the like linus demos live
#1 - deftones are not pearl jam. minimal radio play, not headlining US stadiums, fanbase is hardly comparable.
#2 - they've already been on tour for months and months, and already completed a US tour after album released
#3 - this board has been dead for years with the exception of a few months surrounding an album release.
after that horrible, horrible bullshit that was blackdiamondskye, i'm not surprised there's not much anticipation. makes me want to puke reflecting on how much money i paid to see a handful of songs i've seen 10+ times, then sit through just an awful sequel band that can't even be called AIC.
when the rock record of the year from itunes doesn't even get nominated for a grammy paints a perfect picture as to who really gives a shit about this band.

I guess you're right about the fan base.....which is sad because The Deftones deserve to have a huge fan base too....The Blackdiamondskye tour was my first time seeing them live so even though i wasn't too happy with the repeating setlists, the band sounded tight as hell and they put on a great show....I hoping for more variety now they are headlining...I plan on saying something to Chino about that shit when i see him at the meet and greet! One thing about Pearl jam is they can play 4 night in a row and only repeat a handful of songs...even if they are touring to promote an album! and they like to keep their fans on their toes by busting out rare shit.....The Deftones should do that shit too...they have enough covers and shit to do that.
so you don't like the "new" AIC? I love them! I have been a AIC fan for about 17 years now and I think their new album is fucking awesome....granted it's not Layne..but I still love them...& Jerry is still a fucking amazing guitarist!

So true. Everyones always so worried about their favorite bands selling out. I wish the tones had a much bigger commercial success. But I'm happy they've picked up a bunch of new fans with Diamond Eyes. I guess the tones music is just to experimental for the masses. I really thought sextape would be played all over the radio... Not the case.

Two things, deftones aren't near half as big as pearl jam and also deftones fans are assholes as you can probably tell. It takes a lot for them to get excited and even then cynicism consumes us. Sorry if we harshen your buzz, we like taking the music we love for granted. It is the digital age after all.
it would be nice for a little more variety in setlists, i'll admit that.
it was laughable seeing AIC trying to follow up deftones. just not my idea of a good show.
Speaking for myself though, I'm seeing them in may for my first time the day after my birthday and I couldn't possibly be more excited if I tried, sadly most deftones fans don't seem to have that passion anymore, lots of folks here do but it's not the same as 1997-2003 was.

i reckon there's people here from around the globe. i'm from Poland and i love Deftones music about 11 years. and hey - like 'from_musings' said - this is Deftones tour in USA.
...so i must be very exicted becuase Deftones never played in Poland and i think that they will never play?
and yes - Deftones is not big like Peral Jam.
I still have passion for DEFTONES, and it's like more than 12 years loving their music and people going mental when they appear on stage- like me-and that happen all the times i've seen them :. five times...but the tour is in USA not in my country...
Unfortunately, I can't travel across the World for pre-beers etc.

For me it's rather the good memories I have going nuts to White Pony when it came out, or seeing dredg for the first time six years ago, the flashback I get when I get high and listen to Lateralus by Tool.
My father waited a decade for Iron Maiden to release another good album after Brave New World, and he's still not happy with the last one, because he especially loved their albums from the 80's. So basically, no matter what they release, it will never be the same for him, because he will always remember their old days, you know?
And I can easily transfer this into my own life - I had my big new metal phase, big emocore phase, big metalcore phase, and obviously also the deftones phase.... And when a band I used to love to death releases a new album, I know beforehand it won't give me the same excitement like their earlier stuff did. But that is not a bad thing, because I don't define myself as much by the music I listen to like it used to be the case.

Gotta say I love Crazy Breeds passion. I think the excitement for the most recent tour is tempered by the location they are touring.
When Diamond Eyes was released this place was buzzing, then the AIC tour, East coast headlining tour, then overseas, now back home. Each area toured saw a buzz on the board when Deftones were coming to "their area".

wait the peak of the board? perhaps, just because nuno was more involved with deftonesworld, the evolution and globalization of music and fan involvement due to the rise of the internet, etc. however, it appears from live videos and what small setlist i saw at blackdiamondskye, that the band is performing just as well, if not better than those years.

i still say they just made some of their best music, but i would agree that white pony days were the ¨peak¨. in my opinion, DE should being creating similar -- not more, but very close -- results as those days. their performances seem to support that lately. music industry is very different nowadays though.

didn't deftonesworld used to say "biggest underground band in the world" I always thought that summed up deftones perfectly. many people have heard of them, lots of people like them, lots of people dislike them, a few people LOVE them, a few could give a shit, and most media could care less about them. that's it in a nutshell.

I'm a die hardcore DEFTONES fan and always will, and lot of people still the same, it's like a devotion, you see that on every concert they do,only a few bands have that hardcore follow that deftones have and the fact that this forum aren't plenty of deftones fans telling how good and how they love their music, doesn't mean that a lot of people still with the same love for their music...because the reaction of their fans when they appear on stage, is amazing, people just going mental!
I only ever noticed because it was said that this place should be blowing up right now.
I'm counting the days till this tour.....4 shows in 5 night!! shit is gonna be amazing! I can't fucking wait!! and to be able to sit in on sound check....awesome!! I plan my vacations around tours and this will kick of the late spring/early summer just lovely!!.....my only request is for set list diversity.
dooooooo, do, you!!!.....feel like i do!!!!???!!!
hahaha! prob the first time Frampton lyrics were written on this board!
you gonna record the sound checks? that would be cool. i don't think i've ever seen a recording of their sound checks
Deftones are my favourite band by a country love.I love them and visit this forum almost every day but I hardly ever post. There are probably loads of fans like me, who are really excited about the Tones but don't post that much so you don't hear about them.Unfortunately I don't get very excited about new of Deftones U.S. tours simply because I don't live in the States.I live in a faraway corner of the world in a country called South Afica. To be honest I haven't met any Deftones fans in person here but I have come across loads of them on forums. Now if there was to be news of a Deftones South African concert I'd be going crazy and posting like a maniac. If there are any other South African fans reading this, I think we should get a petition going, for them to visit us here in S.A.
Other bands such as Korn and very recently 30 seconds to Mars (whom I'm very sorry to have to mention in the same sentence as Deftones have put on concerts here which have been a huge success so I'm sure Deftones could pull it off quite nicely. They are always talking about how they like to tour new parts of the world and have new experiences so I'm sure they'd really enjoy it - at least they'll be able to say that they played on the African continent. The problem is I doubt they know much about South Africa or take it seriously - to them like a lot of other U.S. bands we're probably just considered some backwards country with wild animals roaming around but I'm sure they'd be pleasantly surprised by how modern it is here and by the number of fans that they have.
If by some chance anyone who is associated with the Deftones or maybe even one of the Tones themselves reads this, please, please come down here and play!!!!!! They need only talk to other bands to see how viable it is to put on some concerts here - or perhaps even be part of a festival. We have a very cool festival every year here - one year we had Korn, Chris Cornell, Muse, 30 seconds to Mars (again), Kaiser Chiefs, Red Jump Suit Apparatus and some other bands play and it was a huge success.
I have maybe met 2 or 3 fans in my lifetime but i know there are tons, their shows are always packed so i don't understand. I personally don't get a chance to rant as much cuz of a block at work and when i get home i always have shit to do.
my OPINION: im kinda glad deftones are underrated cause some people dont know how to appreciate good music and burn it out. i keep them to myself, sounds greedy. but today i made a guy a deftones fan with just one listen. i felt happy aha but he was a music lover not a trend(mainstream music) follower.
I signed up to this board 8 years ago. Back then the newest album they'd made was White Pony. It's not the same place anymore. There were lots of different people on here at its peak and it was a real buzzing community. But times change and so do tastes. I still love the band. I have them tattooed and whenever they're in London I go see them. But I don't really have much interest in always checking a message board now. There's barely any activity here to check anyway. I just check to stay updated.
