I am going to their Diamond Eyes show on Sunday and I am very excited. But, I looked at set lists for other recent shows and they did not play any songs from Saturday Night Wrist. Every other album was represented. I don't get it? I love that album and feel like it deserves a few songs. Anyone notice them playing songs off that album or know why they are not?
Use the search button. I'm pretty sure there is a thread about this...
Thay have played HITE a few times.
Yeah, I was pretty disappointed. Def. one of my favorite albums. They also played NOTHING off of the self-titled album at the show I went to. Talk about a bummer. The show rocked regardless.
i remember when they were supporting saturday night wrist they abandoned self titled material for a while
As I'm sure you know a lot of 'tones fans think SNW is their worst album (I'm one of those people). I don't hate it, but I'm glad they're playing other stuff. Also SNW seemingly represents a shitty time for the band so it's understandable why they would steer clear of it. I saw em 2 days ago for the first time and it was the shit. After I got home I wrote down every song I could think of that they played if you're interested in checking that out.

Seriously look at that line up :) Who cares about SNW lol. Could have used some more Adrenaline though =D.
SNW was good until mein then the album went to shit. until riviere. but i do miss beware. I think chino could pull off the vocals alot better now.

i just went a Deftone's concert today, and i think that's exactly what they played, too. but i can't really remember that well.
I'm more than happy with deftones current rotation of songs, snw has almost grown on people here simply because of the fact they are not playing it, it's become more exclusive. It's got some good tunes like rivière and xerces etc and I'm sure snw will see the light of day again. It is in most peoples and I'd wager deftones own opinion their weakest album to date hence their least featured come show time.
dude they have too many songs to just focus on one specific album, i caught them about 2 months ago, they played Hole in the earth and im pretty sure beware also...they played Dai (now that made me crapp my pants) but when they jammed to needles they just stormed the shit out of the show...didnt think they would ever play that with out cheng.
I would love them to play Kimdracula and Combat

Haha you quoted me out of context. I was just saying with a sick lineup of songs like that how can you miss SNW? But I feel you man, if I had my pick of the lot they'd be playing Adrenaline front to back and some other tunes like Teething, Venison, Damone, When girls telephone boys, Korea but still I was majorly impressed with the variety they came out and played. I remember seeing Tool last summer their setlist pissed me off since was almost identical to the 2006 tour setlist and only 1 song off of their first 2 albums.
Oh and I don't know about Rickets I've never seen a video on Youtube of them playing that live makes me wonder why they don't play it.
snw isn't a bad album, it's just so different that some deftones fans hate it. if they played combat live, people might give a shit, but they haven't and won't ever anymore.
HITE can be easily replaced with anything mid-paced like change, diamond eyes or even beware in extreme cases, so no one notices.
consider yourself lucky if you get to see a show filled with pre-snw era. adrenaline, atf, white pony and even self titled is premiere deftones, the shit we all fell in love with in the first place.
if i saw deftones today and they didn't play anything past 2003, i would think it was the best deftones show i ever saw.
js. <333
They played Rickets at the sweden show (it was a metal festival) i went to earlier this year, it was a crazy setlist. So much oldschool and almost nothing new stuff. Chino Only played guitar on one song and that was Change, here´s the setlist.
But as the thread says, no SNW and no S/T either.

11. Engine No. 9
12. Passenger
13. Change (In the House of Flies)

15. Headup (with Max Cavalera)
Yeah, I could have done with a lot less of Adrenaline. It's worn out. 7 words? Really? Save your voice Chino.
i wanna see them do nosebleed again... i fuckin loved that shit, don't know why they took it out...

They played almost all of these songs last night with the exception of Hexagram. In it's place they played Needles and Pins. It was so amazing!
Oh and they played HITE and bloody cape also.
I want them to play some different stuff too.
I saw 'em back in 97/98 and I got my fix of Adrenaline/ATF then but I can't remember it! So it would be nice to hear it with more conscious ears. I vaguely remember Teething though.
It has been nice to see them just around/after they brought a new album out, as they played more songs from them.
SNW sounds better in the car.
I dunno what I was listening to in Cleveland last night but I coulda sworn they played Rats but everyone is telling me they didn't so I musta been hallucinating or something cuz I remember moshing to Rats oh and the setlist says they played Bloody Cape which is one of my favorites and I don't remember them playing it and no I wasn't drunk wtf.
Quote from: Vesanic on Sep 12, 2010, 04:32 PM...
Yeah, of course! I was there myself!
I was kinda dissapointed when they didnt played their usual softer set.
But i´ll guess they did it just cuz it was a classic metal festival with bands like Megadeth, Slash, Airbourne, Motörhead, Europe etc etc.
But it was cool to see Headup with Max! (Caverlera Conspiracy was playing just right after them)

They played When Girls Telephone Boys which is unusual from their usual setlist lately imo so you could have been possibly thinking of that song. I don't remember them playing Bloody Cape but they did play Needles & Pins that night...
The show was awesome in Chicago last night.
Am a brand new poster here and kinda bummed about this.
Will be seeing them for the first time this Friday at MSG NYC and was hoping/expecting a more rounded setlist.
The one I just saw posted from Mohegan Sun last night was all DE and the first two albums. Only one song from WP (how can that be???) and nothing at all from ST or SNW.
I realize I am probably an atypical and latecoming fan but SNW is what got me into them. I'm generally more of an alt-rock fan and stupidly never bothered to listen to Deftones before 2006 that as I assumed they were another Limp Bizkit type of rap/nu-metal band. When I met my girlfriend in fall of '06 she put "Cherry Waves" on a mixtape for me and I fell in love instantly (with both girl and band). Went out and bought SNW the next week while on tour in Boston and have been a huge fan since. I acquired all the prior material and enjoy it all but the more straightforward pre-WP stuff does not satisfy me nearly as much as the later heavy+dreamy stuff, so the idea of three Adrenaline songs in this very short set but only Change from WP, and none of Digital Bath, Minerva, Cherry Waves, Knife Party, Bloody Cape, HITE, Deathblow, RX Queen, Beware etc. is making me feel deprived in advance.
I am sure it will be fantastic based on the video clips here, and I am psyched to hear the DE tracks (I think it's the 2nd best of theirs after WP), but I just wish the setlist was more balanced with a decent amount from each album instead of so much early stuff and new stuff and almost nothing from the middle albums that really do it for me.
Glad to know I am not the only one who doesn't understand the lack of love for SNW.
That intro is cool, but I still love the Boards of Canada sample... but both are pretty sweet!
Just saw em in Dallas last night. No Es En Dub.
But they played minerva and hexagram . :P

Yea I got ya V. I thought they used to play this one before Hole In The Earth. I'm pretty sure they did when I saw them in 07...

You've gotta agree now that they are the best alivenwell band today!

Was on a SNW research kick tonight and stumbled on this.... thank you! And funny this, I could picture this at the end of "Platoon".

This is hella tight!!! Example of why Chino is great in his own right and way. It's their "new - wave" influenced element that he brings to the table with not only his singing style but his chords as well in my opinion. Love this shit to be on more records but, well, Stephen! It's one of the reasons I am fond of this record.
