i think sextape will expose people to a different side of deftones. certainly not my favorite song on the album and beauty school would make a better single but i think it's still a great choice and a song i'd be very interested in seeing a video for.

God YES. Hands down my fav track on the album.
I think "Royal" or "Prince" would have been great singles. A nice mix of aggression and softer vocals on each. They both kind of sum up the two extremes of the Deftones sound. I'm sure "Sextape" will make a good single even though singles have never really mattered with Deftones since "Change." Radio and TV just don't latch on to the 'tones.

i think the softer stuff is attracting a lot of new deftones fans. i've met quite a few people that have stumbled across diamond eyes as their first real exposure to deftones outside of their big singles and sextape has been one to really open their eyes to the diversity of the band. i think deftones stopped pandering to their heavy metal fans a long time ago. also how many real hardcore deftones fans haven't accepted and appreciated the softer and more catchy stuff a long time ago. they've kind of always done it. i'm not saying sextape is the best song they've ever done, in fact it's probably one of my least favorite on the album, but i think it's a good move on their part and should make for a solid single. even still i think beauty school is a much better single choice for many of the same reasons. it's just a stronger song that i think could reach a larger range. see i want lots of people to listen to deftones. the more people listen to them, the less shit they listen to.

Diamond Eyes IS a great album, made in a very difficult moment for the band and it helps them going in the right direction as a band and as a project. As we all know, it's easy to notice which member has the most important influence in every song's composition, but so far, Sextape is a song by Deftones. Chino is a Deftones band member, isn't it? :S

The videos suck in your opinion. Lots of ppl love their videos, or at least some of them. Personally, I dont care about the videos anywhere near as much as the songs themselves, but some of them are interesting and creative. Chino is part of Deftones, and Deftones make whatever music they wanna make. It isnt this specific box that they have to fit in that makes them "Deftones". It just isnt the sound you think of wen you think of Deftones; but what is? They have a lotta diversity. Anyways...it makes for a good single. Might get more fans. I first gt into them by listening to their softer songs, and now I like pretty much all of their songs, whether soft or heavy or both. They deserve to have a lotta (real) fans, no matter how they gain them.

I've been a fan since Adrenaline, so when they slowed down on White pony,it was little of a sell out for me.You know slowing down songs so they can be released as singles to get big. And thats what happend. Deftones to me are the first two records. I'm sure a lot of you young n00bs discovered Deftones through the records that was written to get known all over the world like White Pony or Satur day night wrist. The records when they abandoned
their style to sell more records. That's why you guys think Sextape is Deftones and vice versa. To me, isn't. It seems it's just too many fan boys here that swallow everything thing they do.

Also the first two records are totally different from each other, totally different! And talking of slowing down, have you heard of 'mascara', 'dai the flu', 'Mx'? They are slower because get this little jem of wisdom, they are different songs to say '7 words', 'Root' etc etc....
