They know that the internet is a powerful tool and also that no matter what happens.. the album is gonna leak before release. Metallica did something similar, every song was streamed on their website for free one a week til the album came out.. something like that anyway. I like this approach.
I think the approach is genius. Builds hype, anticipation, hurts pirating. Savvy approach for a new era in releases.

Yea there really beefing up the marketing for this album, which they totally deserve. Cant wait to hear Diamond Eyes and see if they add some more US dates.

The thing the label did with people advertising the rocket skates song on their facebook updates and twitter and taking screenshots was pretty cringe worthy. i guess you got a signed vinyl if you won though...

that's modern PR for ya. I also think it's a bit over the top, but at the same time this is a great way for the band to "get out there" and I'm glad the label actually bothers this time around.

I honestly think that once they heard the album, and how radio friendly Diamond Eyes sounds so far, and saw that Chino's looking healthy and "marketable" again they decided they could actually make some money this time around.

it's just the site getting pushed back i'm pretty sure. diamond eyes will probably be up on youtube and such as planned just like rocket skates was. it just won't be available on itunes and amazon until later for some reason.
