oh...yeah....europeeeeeeeee!
Woop. No surprise that Deftones are there.. I am surprised that they're 3rd on the name list though!
On it like a slice of toast. With Marmite on.
That means more European festivals I'm sure. NICE.
Will be there!
Whats the chance of another warm up show in London?

If you mean before the festival I am hoping for Deftones, Far, Will Haven and maybe Soundgarden at Nottingham Rock City on the Thursday night.....asking too much probably ;D
Deftones and them crooked vultures in the same line up? Oh snapple!
my 2 fav bands are there, deftones and megadeth
OMFG!!!!!!
I keep waiting...
wish i could go.. damn :(
my money is also on Rock am Ring / Rock im Park. Have always wanted to go, and now that I live in Germany, this year may have the perfect reason
Yes those Festivals are around the same time as Download. Looks like we'll have some good pro-shot footage over the summer to watch then :) I might just get a day ticket to see them
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v196/defsteve/deftones/poster1.jpg)
thats cool shit, last time i was in Europe these festivals were going off during June/July. Have fun guys.
A few months back there were rumours about deftones playing at Groezrock, a belgian festival.
Since this festival is around the same period with Download Festival those rumours could be true.
Pinkpop seems to be a good candidate as well.
Fingers crossed here !
I hope they can fit in a full UK / Euro tour either before or after this.

They managed to play a long set at London Forum last August....
Just hope if they do a Download warmup it isn't on the Friday night. Will be at Download watching AC/DC....
Thursday night Nottingham Rock City is good for me :o
Aerosmith :o

as you guys know, download is this saturday and i was wondering if the deftones are on the webcast schedule?
this will be a cool festival, rage against the machine is after deftones but i highly doubt that they are going to be on the webcast.
No that lineup is wrong! Deftones are in the tent area opening up for Flyleaf! Fuck you KROQ
bands usually allow to be broadcasted in the download festival
except Rage Against The Machine
I shall be there on Saturday
Near the sound mixing tent, before Deftones hopefully.

Not sure, but they always film the weekend and put it on t.v to show people what an amazing Festival they missed lol

Cheers for that dude, gutted I'm missing it. But I saw a blinding show a few weeks ago so I can't complain!
Stef always comes out with the funniest shit..
But don't go expecting pillars of flame - the Sacramento band are leaving that to the, er, richer bands...
"Us playing our music is the production," continued Moreno. "I don't think we're going to have fire or anything like that. But I shouldn't say that, who's to know what will happen?""Whenever that fire thing goes off, you may as well just light money on fire," laughed guitarist Steph Carpenter. "That shit costs a lot of money."
Excellent set, over an hour of pure Deftones joy. I think Passenger got a great reception, but it was nice to hear them play through such a monster of a sound system. Also, Chino was great on the whole... the first time I have seen them on around 3 years and he looks a changed a man.
Fav song: 7 Words & Beauty School. That helped me with the chick I was with lol. But seriously the dynamics of Beauty School sounded so fucking special, with the big stage lighting etc.
from NME.com
'Rocket Skates'
'Diamond Eyes'
'Fieticiera'
'Elite'
'Knife Party'
'Cmnd/Ctrl'
'You've Seen The Butcher'
'Beauty School'
'Be Quiet And Drive'
'Lotion'
'My Own Summer'
'Birthmark'
'Sextape'
'Passenger'
'Change (In The House Of Flies)'
'Root'
'Seven Words'
Yeah that's it haha, great set and sounded brilliant. Honestly they were great, well chuffed today!
Most videos are likely to appear tomorrow onwards, but here is one already. Not great but hey
Deftones Download 2010 Change (In The House Of Flies) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5CzxO68NKNE#)
It was probably one of the best times I've seen Deftones play. Everyone looked super happy to be there, especially Chino. I'm still finding their older stuff translates much better live than the stuff off of Diamond Eyes but maybe that's just me. Sex Tape sounded great though and that's my girlfriends favourite song by them lol.
I'm not that big a fan of Rage so went to check out 30 Seconds instead...I remember last time the two bands played the same festival Chino came out to help sing and it was great to just see him appear on stage without any introduction. Good times
Deftones were good live. Thought Chino's voice was good at ULU and it was still really good live. Everybody did well and seemed happy - it was just fun, if very short. Chino rocked Passenger I think.
Kind of wished I had chosen 30STM over Rage now but ddin't know if I'll ever have a chance to see Rage again so i chose them, and they were good live :)
Some photos.. I didn't manage to get any of Frank and only one of Stef, but got more of the others.

I'm so pissed I missed this show, but man, when they headline Download, I'm not missing that for ANYTHING!!
Anyway, this scream is now my new all time favourite by Chino I think.. holy fuck. You know when it kicks in ;)

Course he did, it's pretty obvious when the delay kicks in, around the 1:33 mark and then he stops. It's fuckin' sick.
Quote from: Vesanic on Jun 13, 2010, 08:39 PM...
Actually saying that, I'm still torn by the recent Passenger scream, at the end, can't remember what show it was, think it was their second show after Diamond Eyes dropped and then the echo carries the growl as that that last chord hits and the song ends. It's just unreal..
And I almost forgot this. The bit where the woman usually screams, he screamed instead, but this video does it no justice at all. It fuckin' hurt me ears when he was doing them, made it all that more violent and aggressive.

I know what you mean! haha because of the fact if he could kill off any song, it'd be that one? lol
Just to add some geeky info... it'll be the sound engineer who adds all the delay to Chino's vocals, not Frank... I wish I could be back at Download now watching it all over again.
Yeah :) It's funny when he told us in an interview how Kobe/his son loves that song - Out of ALL their songs it had to be that one Kobe liked.. The one that Chino would quite happily never play again lol
It must be quite cool to be able to write a song like that at 15 though, a song that still speaks to so many people, new generations of fans.. Some 15 year olds I know can hardly wipe themselves yet lol

I've never seen that one before. If it's not too much trouble, could you provide closer/bigger pictures of the two bottom photos (stef and chino)? I believe I took that photo of Chino, which is cool!

The poster wasn't for sale - It was on a big board, with other posters of musical legends that passed away this year, like Dio. I'm just a fan of Slipknot, so I thought I would share this one. The t shirt is from this tour so it's brand new. In my photoalbum there is a photo of the back as well. Let me know if you still want to see larger photos. :)
Quite a few of my photos are off the screens since I wasn't at the front, and I've photoshopped them later. So they're not originals as such but I took them all. You can tell from the picture quality that they're not original photos. But they're still off the show so I posted them anyway :)

Does Jared point out to the crowd where ever he goes? I guess that's his thing. He needs to be a little spontaneous then doing the same dumb shit over and over again at different shows.
Steve clear something up, what the hell do you do? How come you were on stage?
^ exactly what i was thinking...
The general vibe i'm getting is that a lot of the download crowd thought deftones killed the vibe before rage, apparently Megadeath had them really going, which says a lot about the lack of taste of these pricks... This is why i hate the amount of narrow minded metal heads that download and sonnisphere attract. It makes me fucking sick, I swear if it wasn't for the Deftones, who push the envelope, we'd be stuck with band after band after band pissing out contrived bollocks..........ughhhhhh rant over, seriously i hate staunch metal heads who only headbang to the 'heaviest' bands, who address the crowd as if they're WWE wrestlers.

They should have joined RATM on stage. I truly love Rage and I think, but maybe it's only an impression, Deftones were inspired by their music during the Adrenaline era. Like them or not, they are obviously better than 30STM...

Ha, can you imagine what the really hardcore metal fans were thinking wen they heard Sextape or Beauty School? Some ppl are really limited in their music tastes, so that must really kill them to hear.
You have to remember that Download is a big ass fest, not everyone is gonna go crazy, me and thee didn't for instance. We grooved but this time I didn't jump in the pit. The arena at Donnington is legendary, hell chino mentions it on that video... it really is iconic in terms of festivals. But I don't agree with the dumbass metal head outlook. Yes a lot are narrow minded but to be fair Deftones are alternative for a reason. And festival wise Download is way friendlier than Leeds/Reading for instance. I think Deftones are one of those bands though, people are kinda not sure how to gauge them, especially one min they are doing Rocket Skates then next is Sextape.
Lamb of God, Megadeth, Deftones and RATM was a great end to the day, loved the variation. And I know there isn't too much love for Megadeth here, but they were brilliant all round; they generally rock so much, but song wise I obviously prefer deftones. I was suprised though with the number of slower songs by deftones, and some v heavy ones like Lotion and Elite. If they wanted everyone to go even more crazy, they should have done more off Adrenaline, as 7 words quite frankly made everyone go mental, so I assume Rage were quite pleased with that just before they came on.
Overall great performance, them Rage and Volbeat were my favourites on that day. Atreyu werent bad either but they always put on a decent show.
I was standing near the front for Deftones and I'm pretty sure most people around me where there to ensure they had a good spot for Rage. Me and my girlfriend were rocking out lol but everyone around us kinda didn't care... But everybody loves My Own Summer and 7 Words.
Like Law said, it's good to have some variation. Download is famous for 'metal' so you'll always get the dicks who hate anything less than metal. I've been to Reading Festival nine times and the metal dicks at Download are 99% more friendly than anyone at Reading. People are there for the music at download but with Reading it seems people are there to show off their new clothes and hair style and the music isn't such a big factor.
ok i kinda side tracked there for a minute, sorry lol.

Doesn't Download fest normally get streamed on the internet and when the Deftones play doesn't their pro-shot set get completely uploaded to youtube or somewhere else?
Has that happened yet for 2010? I love it when that happens.
They should change the name of the festival, then! >:(

That is the Beats per Minute (BPM)
Thanks for answer :)
i was there! in the pit. quite a few nutjobs around me though- deftones show number 15 for me :)
I was just glad to hear Randy Blythe (Lamb of God) is a big fan of Deftones. It's nice to hear that since I love Lamb of God just as much.

Yeah, there should be some pro-shot footage from the day. The Streaming obviously cost them shitloads on bandwidth servers or whatever the deal is on that!
Deftones Interview (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nBhn9MV0iKs#ws)
I feel sorry for this dude, I can tell you, interviewing and being interviewed sucks ass. Unless the questions are unique.

Dude. Please refrain from speaking to people on www.iridetheyellowbus.com (http://www.iridetheyellowbus.com) about their Download experience. Haha.
One of a handful of bands to get 5KKKKK review in the Kerrang this week.
Deftones owned Download. Fact.
do you have a link to that review? Or can you post pics of it? :)
I never read any bad reviews from Kerrang. I guess they like them, huh? :)
