Title: Crescendo songs
Post by: lostpilot on Jan 18, 2010, 12:28 AM
sup,

I want to sparkle my brain with some crescendo songs.
What is a crescendo? - it's a repetition of a particular motif in music with increasing intensity/complexity to sustain meaning until explosion (or not, like in Bluenecks Low).

Glorious examples so far:

Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Storm
Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Sleep
Blueneck - Low
Sigur Ros - Glosoli
Sigur Ros - #8 - Popplagid
Mono - Ashes in the Snow
Mono – Burial At Sea
The Mars Volta - whole Cassandra passage

so, kids, I want some epic crescendo songs.
yes, mostly post-rock, but some psychedelic / stoner / progressive / experimental / jazzy etc is welcome..

Have you ever checked out Yo La Tengo?  I would suggest I Can Hear the Heart Beating as One.  It has some songs that might interest you.  And well..Yo La Tengo is one of the best bands out there.
