Had to bring this thread back. New album entitled Gold Cobra due early 2010. don't know about anyone else but i'm excited for this release. never really listen to LB anymore but they'll always have a special place with me due to my teen years. still put on a tremendous live show. interested to see how the new stuff sounds.
Goddamnit...
Haha I love it.
nu metal strikes back!
clip from new song. fred recording vocals over it. sounds like starfish era bizkit.

Sounds fucking shit.
It definitely sounds like Starfish. It's too bad he's gone back to being annoying like that. The music sounds pretty good (once again).
wes borland was in the right place with BLB...

My thoughts exactly... Not that it comes as a surprise I may add, but hey, at least, we can keep laughing at him like that...
what did you expect him to sound like? they were most succesful when they went with that type of sound and thats his signature vocal style, like it or not. it only makes sense. it gets the people that loved them excited and the people that hate them talking about it. it works perfectly. if they released an album that was completely different then people might like it but it wouldn't be as succesful. kind of like they did with part 1. a lot of people in the "underground" seemed to like that album but it wasn't a success. this more than likely will blow up.
Their first CD was great after that they turned into complete shit and that video proves it.

Indeed, in Part 1, he was sounding better, and music was better... I actually bought and enjoyed this album. And I don't fucking care it being a success or not, point is that aiming at success as a definitive goal is what turns most of actual music into shit... Sorry for you if that's a criteria of liking or not a band.
I'm not saying that everything "underground" (as you state it) is great, and all sell out bands are shitty (even though I would tend to think like that), but using this kind of criteria as a "like / no like" band is completely irrelevant and stupid
Considering that it sounds like Starfish has simply become more of a relic from early 2000s, I don't think emulating the same sound will bring the crowds. The last thing the public at large enjoyed from Limp Bizkit was their cover of Behind Blue Eyes. Just trying to recreate what they did literally a decade ago wont work. That's like Justin Timberlake deciding to have his new album be a boy band album. People just aren't into it anymore. If they want to be mainstream and have the masses enjoy them, that's fine. But if they want to do that they need to change their sound.
if they changed the sound, it wouldn't be limp bizkit. this is exactly the type of stuff they should do. plus this is only a 50 second clip of one song. you never know what it's going to sound like really until the album drops. tarkil, that's not the criteria i use. i like all types of music. mainstream and underground. i hate how some people will say the most horrible underground band is better than the best mainstream band just so they appear to have more musical credibility. not saying you're that way, just saying. i'm just saying if they want to have a succesful comeback, this is the style they should do.
sounds bad. wish they'd continue the path of the unquestionable truth part I. the one and only great limp bizkit album. everything else was just downright bad.
First album is their best IMO, Significant Other is pretty good, next albums leave a lot to desire... (well, i haven't listened to UT Pt1)
hope Gold Cobra will bring that beat back

seriously watch that clip again, you cant even get angry.. its almost like someone is making fun of fred durst, the hood is up and all, and just the body movements, you would think that the video was made by someone who hates fred durst and wanted to make fun of his style.. instead, this actually is fred durst and he really is this big of a joke.. isnt this guy like 40?
oh man, i just found another great limp bizkit video.. halfway through this video, fred durst lets out the greatest guitar solo i ever heard,, jimi hendrix who?

fred durst wearing a deftones Diamond eyes T-shirt!!!
I've always had time for the Bizkit, never been much of a Durst fan although I never jumped on the hate-wagon the band got from the elitists in the 90"s.
Kind of sick of the hate such bands get when they garner success.Meh.
Thought they were okish till I saw them live and they blew me away with their tightness.I love their music but the lyrics are usually complete arse imo.
Rivers, Borland and Otto are a hugely talented 3-piece.Borland in particular has kudos in my books yet in saying, although I can't stand Durst post 3 dollar he very much seems to be the driving force in this band even existing, let alone reforming, and I respect that.
Looking forward to the new album.
Caleb ftw.
Limp Bizkit is what it is three pretty talented musicians playing some metal with a groove to it with Fred Durst rapping over it. I listen to them still sometimes.

I think Walking Away is really sick. I wish steph would let loose and shred like Wes does in the last 2 min..Unfortunately, I think Durst is getting worse with each album... He really ruins the song.

I'm just sick of this. Where the fuck is Gold Cobra? We've been waiting for almost a fucking year and we just have 2 "leaked" songs as a method to keeps us happy without asking for real dates.
A release date? Official Singles? Is the album really finished? It should leak, just to fuck their plans >:/
Hey its coming out on the 28th of June and here is the new single named Gold Cobra:
Limp Bizkit Golden Cobra / Gold Cobra HD (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3DgwIL-k_A&feature=related#ws)
listened the new album yesterday and today. didn't believe it could suck that much. Fred goes like "shit, fuck, bitch, motherfucker", it's like gangsta-nu metal ;) some songs have great guitar riffs, but Fred's vocal style irritates me very much.
I actually sat and listened to this shit fest of an album. Wes is wasting his talent. I can't believe it took them this long to make such a shitty album. Just... horrible. Fred is whimper than ever before. The rest of the band need to get as far away from that clown as possible because they're actually talented musicians. I guess money is better than credibility.
haha the only thing that's good with new material from limp bizkit is that people are making threads about how much they want to hear it, as if it's something to look forward to,and then a person like silver shows and murders everything in sight. good read

I am the dream killer. Ruiner of hopes and undeservingly high expectations.
Holy shit!!! I can't believe there is a label actually pressing copies, and releasing this bullshit. Fred Durst is such a joke. I seriously can't believe this is real, or that the band stands by fred and his retarted lyrics. What a waste of talent concerning the rest of the band.

Says the person that just typed "limp shitskit" in all seriousness.
lol, in no way is this the best record of 2011. It's not the worst limp bizkit album either.
The album is basically Limp Bizkit. Its better then Results May Vary but i dont like freds lyrics (wow really?). Wes does a good job as usual. Like some of you said it isn't the best record out there but it isn't the worst either. Also didn't like the autotune song, its just stupid, but Fred gonna show them haters... really how old is he? 57? Hes never tired of mentioning the haters
And again the LB interludes... annoying, annoying... they make me edit the songs.
Anyway its a good LB album.
It's great!
It's just a fun, groovy record.

I don't know wtf is wrong with me but i definitely like this album. I think its mostly the rhythm section with wes' riffs, maybe its just nostalgia i dont know but it sounds great and i love it.
Well it's possibly because the people playing instruments are actually really talented. They have just found themselves stuck making predictable music. So even when a new Limp Bizkit cd comes out that no one wants to listen to, they still make it sound decent.

he's not painting weird abstract shit for others to interpret like chino, that's for sure.he's pretty right on about things.none of the two really have anything to say but at least he's not trying to hide it, maybe that's refreshing ^
People bash durst for his lyrics because they are on par with an angry vannilla ice, he blurts out rap rock cliche after rap rock cliche, almost a parody of himself. I thought all the time off the road might have matured him, seems he's still letting the side down and assuring the sad fact that limp bizkit will never have any credibility.
Like someone said, chino doesnt often have a lot to say but he writes lyrics in an arftul way and paints pictures with imagery, his unfluences are clear with the cure and the smiths and all the rest. Durst just talks inane shit and comes across like a tragic wannabee bad ass.
Still the rest of the band seem to have come up with some decent material.

awesome! thanks V!
I honestly always forget about that record! No idea why ???
keep the questions coming the interview is tomorrow!!! :)
right! I think The Unquestionable Truth part 1 is like Deftones Self Titled and SNW when it comes to playing it live! It simply wasn't a good time for LB
and asking bands to play more old songs is a smack in the face for any band!
It's funny. People are like "oh gawd this suckz lol". Why is that a surprise to you all? It's Limp Bizkit. They play nu-metal. It's like people expected that they all of a sudden would change their style. There are still heaps of people out there that will dig this, I'm not one of them, but I guess it's great that they keep on making music. To be honest I can think of lots of bands I think are way worse than Limp Bizkit.
Kinda like posting the new Justin Bieber album, people eagerly download it and check it out, get chocked and frustrated to find out he's still making buttery pop songs for 12 year olds.

Walking Away is pretty bad ass.
Well ive heard the extra tracks... not so good like the rest of the album. And of course there was a "hip hop song" there ugh... Middle Finger. It starts good but then.. ughh
I really like Gold Cobra at this point even with Freds childish lyrics. If i must pick a track i would say Walking Away or Gold Cobra.
I liked when i saw them at Portugal in 2010 Fred said "We are not like the other bands that change". Well i think you forgot Results May Vary..? Still i thought immediately of Linkin Park and how shitty they turned out to be, i mean, Linkin Park was one of my first bands i followed for years, the first one i really become a hardcore fan and got me into metal later, but now... oh my... how pop and shitty they can be?
Imagine if Deftones suddenly turned pop, and with that i mean no guitars or drums, just songs that sound like 80's pop music with beats.
this album is horrible and all of you that like and are defending it are horrible as well

I might like Gold Cobra but this is just blasphemy.
Wookubus did a review on theprp and i think he describes it best...
Quote from: WookubusAmid years of silence, cancelled tours and numerous delays; few expected Limp Bizkit's "Gold Cobra" to ever actually see a release and yet here it stands. The poster boys of the nu-metal movement return with an album equivalent to that of a summer blockbuster popcorn movie – that is to say big budget explosions and little in the way of plot.
Surprisingly enough there is a palpable fun factor, even to those who endured the genre's heyday, when listening to the instrumental portions of this outing. An anthemic, if not excessively sophomoric, mixture of the commercial gloss of "Significant Other" and the fierce riffage of "Three Dollar Bill, Yall$"; "Gold Cobra" is undoubtedly Limp Bizkit to its core.
Guitarist Wes Borland's ever creative squelches and crunchy fret board dives balance aggression and effect laden inventiveness in a way rarely seen outside of the likes of Tom Morello. All while the accompanying rhythm section mines obnoxious hip-hop breaks, upbeat grooves and even goes so far as to dabble in a slinky jazz-like foray.
Understandably many are quick to rightfully proclaim Borland – what with his outlandish costumes, dizzying tones and guitar heroics as the groups greatest asset. But there is also much to be said about the talent shown by drummer John Otto and bassist Sam Rivers. For it is their clever interplay and funky foundations that repeatedly enable Borland to attain the heights he does without sacrificing momentum.
The sonic accompaniment of DJ Lethal on the other hand is seemingly focused on programming manifested through ambient inflections and bass drops. This of course leads us to the bands proverbial lightning rod – Fred Durst. Inarguably the groups weakest link with his snotty raps and seemingly incurable napoleon complex, his larger than life presence steals the spotlight for better, or is more often the case, worse.
Rife with lyrics of retaliation, bravado, confrontation, partying and of course haters; his dialogue is certainly canon for Limp Bizkit. But one would have hoped that a man now in his 40′s would be a touch more reflective. Or at least take a page from the Beastie Boys and leave behind the cartoonized attempts at white-washed gangsta rap thuggery.
If anything though it is when he steps out of his element, such as on the alt rock ballad "Loser" or the attempted club anthem "Autotunage", that he falls flat the hardest. And yet there's no denying the entertainment value of his presence and his dedication to playing up his role as the mouthpiece of the group.
Sure his shortcomings, cheesy raps and lack of depth are painfully apparent. Especially in the numerous boneheaded choruses (see "Douchebag", "Gold Cobra",etc.) which rely on repetition to fill out a pattern rather than showcase any mental acuity. But then once again, this is Limp Bizkit, a band who put goofy entertainment and scream-along expressionism ahead of meaningful substance and in this they readily succeed.
All the clever grooves, abrasive crunch and hooky melodies in the world would have a hard time escaping the shadow of Durst's unintentional comedy and incessant posturing. Truly Durst has always been a more adept showman than lyricist/vocalist and this will likely never change. In turn "Gold Cobra" is exactly what one would expect; mindless entertainment full of aural bombast and violent pretense that is beloved by many and perhaps hated by even more.

Durst wants tour with Korn and Deftones
Limp Bizkit's Fred misses nu-metal genre vibe – and says sorry for misleading fans over release date for "comeback" album
Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst says he'd love to recapture the nu-metal genre spirit by touring with fellow proponents Korn and Deftones.
And he's apologised for repeatedly misleading fans by announcing release dates for new album Gold Cobra which turned out to be wrong.
Durst tells Billboard.com: "I miss the whole genre – rap-rock, nu-metal or rapcore, whatever we were called. There was a time there when you had Bizkit, Deftones and Korn. There was something really special about those times.
"I feel like if we all got back together and did something, went on the road together, it could be really big."
Gold Cobra is finally released next week after the band reunited with guitarist Wes Borland in 2009. The album has been subject to a number of delays, of which Durst admits: "It's hard not to hear the group of loud voices talking shit because we didn't deliver when we said we would.
"It seems to be that any time I announce some sort of date, it's always wrong. They should know that by now – but my intentions are always pure and sincere.
"But we felt that it's been so long making the album that taking a little bit more time to get it right wasn't so bad."
Durst insists Gold Cobra represents "not a reunion, but a comeback. The epiphany was, we've got to own who we are and stay true to who we are.
"We're a rap-rock band. We individually like different things and none of us listen to rap-rock – but when we get together in a band room, that's what we make.
"There's no reason to search and find a newer Limp Bizkit, or find an evolved style to fit the radio format. We don't have to prove anything. We just have to own it."

I would go see those three together, didn't get to back in their heyday.

That would be awesome. I really like nu metal. Hahaha, and the people who make fun of nu metal or who hate it just make me like it even more. I really liked Limp Bizkit.....when I was like 12.. Looking back I think they were shit. And they didn't form the band until '95 (hey same year as Slipknot :P). Deftones and Korn were already established by then and LB just wanted to hop on the band wagon of nu metal's popularity. That's how I feel, also while I think Wes is an awesome guitarist, Fred is a douchebag and a terrible frontman for an otherwise good band.
I remember seeing Limp Bizkit supporting Soulfly back in 98 or something and although it was eventually called Nu-Metal, it was something different and exciting before it got coined that genre.... most of those bands - Korn, Soulfly, LB, Spineshank, Coal Chamber, Tura Satana, Taproot, Pitchshifter, Papa Roach, Skinlab, (Hed) pe, One Minute Silence etc were cool for people at that time.
It gave everyone a taste of a more modern metal sound.
Yeah that is weird because I remember at the time I listened to Limp Bizkit, Korn, and first started listening to Deftones and other similar bands nobody called it nu metal. And tbh I have never even heard the term nu metal until very recently.

Wes is a good guitarist... no doubts about that.
Fred is a douchebag... no doubts again.
Fred is a terrible frontman. Nope... probably the sole reason Limp Bizkit is around.
Love him or hate him, the dude has a "persona" he plays and he plays it well. Without it, it wouldn't be Limp Bizkit it'd just be some random ass band trying to play the nu metal game. The media fell in love with his bravado and same with a generation of angst ridden teens. He's walking PR and they loved it. I would say that my tolerance is higher for embarrassing stuff if the person who says something embarrasing is young.
it's like if a baby says "go go gaga"... you don't go "what the hell, you're not very verbal are you?sound like a fucking retard? the fuck's wrong with you". it's normal and what you'd expect. but if an adult go "go go ga ga" (that would be fred durst in this case) you react in a different way, suddenly that tolerance isn't that high anymore because you have different demands on grown ups.
when I listen to 7words today, I see it more as a snap shot of that time. I hear an angry teenager who expresses himself in the early ninetees and like it for what it is. When I hear durst today, I hear a retarded man who should grow up ;)

yeah but the difference is that when deftones gives us nostalgia like 7 words is when they play old music they made in the 90's. when lb today in the year 2011makes new music that sounds like old music from the 90s it's something else.
when deftones sounds old is when they play music that was made long ago, then it's nostalgia, but when lb today makes music they come off as a one trick pony that has not developed one thing. while deftones develop and mature, with each album. if you like it or not or what you like to listen to is another thing but it's pretty easy to throw shit at a band who are still at square one
Kinda sad that this is the most active thread in the music discussion section.

limp bizkit should try to envolve a little bit without changing it completely. but we have bands like slayer. don't listen to them but they get credibility just because they stick to their guns and do the same thing over and over. so some bands get respect just because you know where you have them. i assume that the difference is that lb writes pretty childish music and should mature when the members are getting older

i like it very much. perfectly fits my mood these days.
At the end of the day, it's their band so they can create whatever they want to. Admittedly, it might not be good for some fans and their longevity but after seeing them at Sonisphere, it all works.

aaaaaaaahahahhahaha that was fucking hilarious.
I'd tap that.
I went to their concert this year and it sucked so much i walked away when Behind Blue Eyes was played from Fred's iPod.
Every song had a 2-3 minute break by DJ-Lethal and all the new songs are so cheezy and rip-offs of their previous work.
But i have to say i've seen them preform years back and it was totally awesome, but now they really need to quit.
Then that was a bad concert.
I went to see them last year and it was amazing. The setlist was great but they didnt play Boiler (and being the concert in Portugal wtf didnt they played it since the clip was recorded here??). The rest of the concert was excellent and they had alot of energy (despite the fact durst cant sing for shit).
Also hated when they played behind blue eyes, but overwall was a great concert.
As for their new album, its ok, its not a rip-off, its just Limp Bizkit but not as good like the old days. I didn't want a new results may vary, but I wouldn't mind having a new Unquestionable Truth.

I agree this band bashing is a bit childish, and I love shitloads of limp bizkit songs, but I can see the funny side in this. I think teh piss taking is aimed at the people who see Fred as an idol, like people_r_fake probably did :-\ his ( mostly ) repetitive lyrical themes and style is funny, but sometimes his lyrics align perfectly with the music ( which is awesome except from DJ Lethal ) but a lot of the time it's a miss. I think everyone should just respect eachothers opinion on this XD No one is calling limp bizkit the greatest band in the world or claim they are musical geniuses like the basis of this board.

Since I grew up with Limp Bizkit, its normal that I like them. But still, Fred sucks and cant sing at all (annoying voice). Im not even going to talk about the lyrics, because we all know that is just their style.
In UT 1 for example we can see that he can actually write something else instead of "Oh yeah bizkit in da house haters gonna hate ya suck im rich" (assuming he did write the lyrics or part of them).
Anyway, my favourite song of them (video recorded in my country)

I like Limp Bizkit and I think to enjoy it u can't take it too seriously (in fact u can't take it seriously at all)
It's just a bit of fun and great for pumping loud and letting some frustrations out.
The lyrics are silly and Durst is a moron but who cares - some of those riffs are awesome!
What's Gold CObra like - I've only heard Shark Attack - reminds me of their HOtdog stuff
Exactly pinkmaggit. People think they're smart making fun of LB when the band already do that themselves. It's all about letting your guard down and just having a good time, not caring what people think of you for it. I can attest to Fred not being a moron, at least not anymore, he was a class act when I met him a couple of years ago and he seems so down to earth and friendly nowadays. I think he always has been, to be honest, but hey, he'll always be labelled an asshole, and he's cool with that, so I don't care so much. I used to like LB casually when I was younger but they only made me a bigger fan in recent years. Now i 'get' it, and they can still make me happier than any other band when they take to the stage. Seen them live twice now and they've been incredible experiences both times.
Gold Cobra's most like Chocolate Starfish with a lot of fun party tracks, and a few mellower tunes like Loser and Walking Away. It's not too different from their older material, but that was what they aimed for on this one. According to Wes Borland the new album will be more like GC's opening track, Bring It Back.
''Bring It Back'' is actually such a hook. For me it was a surprise when i first listened to album. The rest of that album doesn't live up to that opening track, at least for me...
''Killer in You'' would be nice track too, but chorus is a let down..
Despite all the hatred this band gets, they still draw out huge crowds to their concerts...
Gold Cobra sort of let me down, its not as heavy and lost its flow compared to Chocolate Starfish.
I am also looking forward to the Unquestionable truth part 2, I hope its heavy and Wes does what he did on the last album. If I remember correctly, he already laid down the riffs for some of the track during the Part 1 sessions so some of the original stuff may still remain.

John is pretty good for what he does for limp bizkit, it fits they're style. He did play drums on the one track, The Channel and not the rest because of his drug problems and his fall out with Wes. There's a video on the enchanced version of the cd (I think all the cds have the video and the animosity is documented in there). According to Wes, they went through 3 albums worth of material to get to the Unquestionable Truth part 1; till Fred was content with the material specifically, good choice btw. It was mentioned in some interview.
