Title: The two different sides of Team Sleep..
Post by: Inkblades on Jul 31, 2009, 04:11 AM
Interestingly, I think there's two distinct styles to the music of Team Sleep: the summery indie rock side (Ever, 11-11, Ever Since WW1, Elizabeth, Our Ride To The Rectory, etc.), and then the electronica-heavy futuristic side (King Diamond, Appollonia, Ataraxia, Staring At The Queen, Paris Arm, Doomed User, bionicA, etc.)...the lyrics to King Diamond (the original version) and Appollonia are also quite sci-fi infused, with references to technology like PRC T3's, computers, relooping, starting, restarting, etc.

Anyway, which style do you like better? I enjoy both tremendously, but Chino simply singing over a futuristic, synth-heavy Crook beat is a winning combination. I hope that whenever they start on the next album, there's a couple songs that are just that.

That seems like an over-simplification of what they do.

Yeah. There is, of course, more to them than just that. Those are just the two of the more prevalent aspects of them that I find interesting.

Team sleep was starting to get good, then deftones had to fuck it all up.
