The MySpace update has elicited some interesting responses from everyone, and I'm curious how you think the Deftones have handled the situation with Cheng.
Was keeping rather quiet about it the right thing to do? Was scrapping Eros (for the time) and recording a new record proper? Do you think they've shown compassion towards Chi?
Feel free to share how you feel about everything and if they handled it properly.
All that I say is to everyone take a look at Bamboozle videos, specially at Headup, and I think that might answer your question and clear all of your doubts.
Besides, we don't really know what they've really done for Chi since he is in coma.
I just think they should've been more vocal about it. The last update on Chi's condition dates back from November, then we didn't hear anything from them until Gina came over. Oneloveforchi should've been put up by the band not a simple fan, if it weren't for Gina, where would we get some updates? Maybe they didn't know how to address this? We don't know.
Now they're doing this charity gig and that's a great thing but I still think this should've come a little bit sooner but then again, better sooner than never.
This is a pointless and exploitive thread.
I agree. It's certainly not constructive. Someone close it.

Tell us one thing you can change. If you can't, then this thread should not exist.

the questions asked in the thread arent dumb at all.. but asking them here at sl where people will defend deftones no matter what maybe is.perhaps this thread should be at a general music site where people can reason about this touchy subject out loud without getting attacked by deftones fans just because these fans confuse the love for deftones music with what deftones do or dont in a situation like this. naaaam saying

yeah... a 5 min performance should do it. thats enough
Maybe this thread was made by some Deftones staff
Definitely someone who knows the band.
I don't think Frank is from Burma.
Who's Frank? Not sure how this thread is stupid given the discussion the whole situation has sparked. And trust me - I'm a fan.
Look, we can discuss this all day. But what is it going to accomplish? Nothing. We'll just be going in circles arguing about it. Deftones have made their decisions and that's that.
yeah but we discuss records after they are released. with yr argument its like "why talk about snw, it is released and thats how they made it.. they have made their decisions of how it will sound and that's that".
its a friggin discussion board.. ventilating opinions.. not necessarily about changing facts out there

True, but there is just a tiny difference in talking about a record they made and talking about if they reacted in the right manner or not when one of their own fell into a coma. One subject is more sensitive than the other.
ok.. but not discussing it because it wont accomplsh anything and not discussing it because it is a sensitive subject are two totally different things. anywho...i dont have time for this.. i got to chase spiders out of my apartment. fucking summer
I don't think it was the best way to handle things, but I'm glad they're getting on with it.

BIG LOL!!!! :D ;D :D ;D
There's no preparation for your bandmates first coma.
They just reacted. In the end, I don't think any band has ever done anything differently in these situations.
First phase: do nothing.
Second phase: play a handful of small venues with replacement member.
Third phase: make executive decisions. Play a couple of larger gigs.
Finally: carry on. It's all that can be done.
yeah, considering that the members of the band aren't like, super rich rockstars or anything, I guess there isn't really much they could do...besides carrying on the best they can, at least...
