I'm going with:
The Police - Omega Man
This song is tight and practically sounds like one of their songs already.
Soulja Boy - Crank That
freek a leek by petey pablo
Between the bars, by elliot smith.
Heres a great cover of it by metric.

A deftones version would be amazing......
Death - zombie ritual
Sade - Cherish The Day
Rick Astley - Never Gonna Give You Up.
"space monkey" by placebo

If I Was Your Vampire. By Marilyn Manson

That's quite an interesting choice. I'd like to see Dirt by them, abe would kill it.
My vote goes for The Drowning man, The cure. It's been so long since they did Lennon's song...(and that was just abe and chino)
hmm something by portishead could be interesting
Toadies - Tyler, Chris Isaacs - Wicked Game, Foreigner - Girl on the Moon, Screamin' Jay Hawkins - Put a Spell on You
radiohead - jigsaw
radiohead - videotape
radiohead - nude
radiohead - there there

deftones are gonna cover a TFF song for the next 2 albums
1."I Believe"
2. "Laid So Low"
its already a done deal..
lock///
I say "POWER OF THE TRINITY" by human rights. yes.
Fuck, another zealot.
in my opinion if the album sounds like snw they should do "in pieces" by linkin park(even though i don't like them anymore) otherwise they should do something like waiting for the night by depeche mode or enjoy the silence
Maybe a Gary Numan song would be cool.or a heavy David Bowie cover
marvin gaye - mercy mercy me.
something by Massive Attack
something from joy division
smashing pumpkins
They should cover:
"Say Hello to Heaven" by Temple of the Dog
And I will think of more.....
can i ask you something...
someday deftones decided to make smashing's cover named ''shiver'' (am i right) and they said this album can be listened from their myspace page..
what happened ?
The song's name is Siva. But they never made it available. I don't even think it's recorded. Don't know if it was a rumor or what, but it never happened.
crap :(
it would be perfect with deftones touch...its a good song
they should cover their faces. ::)
man, are they playing music....the band on your avatar
no...
and don't cry, baby. no devil, no cry.
Joy Division - Atmosphere
the mars volta - cassandra gemini

I want to hear "Electric Barbarella" by Duran Duran LOL... It's serious!!! :D
or some from Radiohead or Muse
Idioteque or Paranoid Android from Radiohead
Citizen Erased or Muscle Museum by Muse... or whatever from that two bands....
also a Mars Volta cover would blow my mind!!! 8) (Maybe Televators or Intertiatic ESP...)
aroura by foo fighters
id rather them put the time into an original song than a cover, but f t was anything I'd say a prince song. maybe purple rain.

yea well, it was just something that poped in my head when i was listening to them on the radio, but since they did Sade, i figured cranberries would be on a similar vocal level for chino yet steph could have a very flexible ffreedom to dirty their clean sounds in a both legit and warped mannerism

I agree with you. Radiohead and Type-O-Negative would be my other choices.
Also I think they should cover another Cure song, maybe from the Disintegration album.
They should cover 2 Pac's - Do For Love or Kiling Joke's - Democry or any other song by Killing Joke
dont cry-guns n roses
like a stone- audioslave
forever-hurt

falling away from me would be gud ....
Boys Night Out - Dying
sleep now in the fire-rage
Freak on a leash is a very good song, but i don't want Deftones making a cover of it....
FUCK!!!!!!!!!!

agree.
really
Kyuss - Whitewater
I kindof doubt Defttones have even really heard of Kyuss, but if they did cover them, it would be awesome.
Smashing Pumpkins...Tales of a Scorched Earth or X.Y.U.
IMO the hardest pumpkins songs ever
Mmmm...
I want to hear chino singing "Karma Police" or "Idioteque" of Radiohead...it would be fucking awesome!!

Specially Idioteque!
wow, I'd like to hear Deftones cover at least one song from every band listed on this page!
Kyuss, Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead, Alice In Chains, I really like all 4 of these bands
I think they would do a kick ass cover of "Shout" by Tears for Fears

fuck covers, release the album
i think it would be interesting to hear deftones cover this one:
Arctic Monkeys Pretty Visitors Humbug (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PVRvUIV6G-E#)
Steph could play it heavier and more metal-ish.chino could mix cocky rap with screams and franks could play an eerie melody insted of the organ. above all - steph could do something brutal at 2:10 like the icing on the cake!
maybe not, but also - maybe!
radiohead "karma police "
depeche mode " enjoy the silence "
pj harvey " anything about her "

Anyone remember the band Hum?
If so Hum : The Pod, really fits Deftones style I think....
@i kill for fun.....you forgot the aeroplane flies high...and bodies......they should cover bodies.. by the pumpkins fits perfect

I could see them more doing Apollo or Green to me, but covering hum would be a nice Idea!
i know chino's pop oriented.....but does he dig thrash like anthrax slayer megadeth or metallica...if so it be cool
Cranberries- I Still do
The Cure- Disintegration
The Cure- Prayers for rain
Tankard - Stay Thirsty
TANKARD - Stay Thirsty (2008) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ec51yi2yYq4#)
I always thought a Quicksand cover would be cool. Freezing Process or Landmine Spring. With Sergio in the band now makes sense.
Catherine Wheel - Ursa Major Space Station (Original Version) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MthU79Jox3Q#)

I don't know what song they should cover, but obviously I would like to see it.
I totally agree on Placebo's Space Monkey.
Other suggestions: Ghinzu's 'Mine' or Queens of the Stone Age's 'Tangled Up in Plaid'

while i don't really think it sounds like a Deftones song, i agree that this would be an awesome cover. i'm thinking not too many people are familiar with the song...
Some Failure songs.
I'm going to come out with an odd one.
It's not exactly the deftones but with a member of the deftones.
I think Red Sparowes with Chino on Vocals should cover Kathy's Song by Red House Painters.
I know this is never gonna happen but for the instrumental i think Red Sparowes would be the best band to cover it and Chino would definitely be the man to lay the vocals.
This song just becomes so epic when it gets to 4:33.
this could be such an amazing one if covered properly.

I had heard it before, but deftones could do it better i think
wicked game
Neil Young - Heart of Gold
Dragonforce - Through the fire and the flames
I picture an old Metallica jam, one of the more pretty but darker ones like "Fade to Black" without solos or Jane's "Ted, Just Admit it" (Nothing's Shocking). I could think of other Jane's songs probably if I took the time, (one of my favorite bands) or even Beck or Prince. Oh! Jane's "Whores"! Or, "City". ;D
I loved "El Scorcho" by weezer when they covered it live, would be a fun, solid studio track to have by Deftones, along with everything Weezer has done actually!" In the Garage" being my next Weezer cover for them.
Black Sabbath
I love you guys
Please keep posting videos.
Everything i heard from here sound so Deftonic.
Beautiful Morning...-The Pillows (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YsatgALVnXc#)
They would kill this. Chino could sing it in Japanese.
Green Jello "Little Pig, Little Pig" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_CYwNWHZuT0#)
Lol
Metallica-orion
Alice in chains- no excuses
Motley crue- hooligans holiday
" I see the girls go by dressed in their summer clothes!"- "Paint it Black" or "Painted Black" I believe it's called by the Rolling Stones... I should know the title as I am a fan. But anyway, listen to it and picture it a little heavier tho it is one of the Stone's harder tracks. I like the "orion" idea too! Would love to hear them on "Sweat Leaf" too but I can't picture Chino there rt now.... 8) He would have to sing it out in the sultry, hush style he's famous for and howl or even scream out the chorus, like the part I quoted up top ( on the Stones track)

fuck covers, release the album
Covers are an integral part of deftones. Without them, it wouldn't feel the same
I say release albums AND more covers. They reign as masters in my book as a cover band alone. They do everything they cover total justice. I've been turned on to a few bands because Deftones brought them to my attention. When they did "Simple Man" for example, i wasn't ever into Skynard though I was brought up around their music and they made them sound even worse to me. Sounded like Chino's mind expressing itself to me as if he wrote it himself. U can totally tell it's not Deftonish as far as the rest of the guys go but it rocks my balls and gives me goosebumps. My best friend's funeral song was this by Skynard and Deftones' cover didn't come out till a yr later. His family heard Deftones' version through me and his mom n sister cried it was so good. Still don't like Skynard and my dad even jizzed over the Tones' version. I made him listen to it before telling him it was his punk ass son's favorite group.
SpaceHog- In the meantime
Blind Melon 'Change'
Jane's addiction- Jane says
i dunno, but i was so stoked with the elvis cover
I really wanted to hear those Earth, Wind & Fire covers they were going to do during the KNY sessions. Would've either been amazing or at the very least, if they were terrible, hilarious.
I was going to start a new topic on the subject of Deftones covers and what songs I wish they would cover next, since the rumour is there will be covers for the new album, but I searched and found this one.
These songs I think Deftones could really bring to the next level like they always do, good songs on their own, but really fitting for Deftones sound and I would LOVE to hear a studio cover, at the very least I'd settle for a live cover version of these songs.
I'd love to hear anything shoegaze, but this song in particular already sounds like a Deftones song, Chino would have to figure out the vocals though.
