Title: Travis Barker
Post by: bright lights, big city on Sep 20, 2008, 03:38 PM
In my opinion, a legendary drummer, he's been a part of so many bands I've listened to over the years. Thought he deserved his own thread...
especially now...

http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20227709,00.html

read somewhere else that he has "extensive burns" but that he should live, but wow, this is horrible

I'll come out and admit Im a huge fan of Blink. Enema of the State is one my favorite cds.
The Transplants were awesome, and he drummed on one of the best ska cds- The Aquabats - Fury of the Aquabats.
then i think briefly he did shit for QotSA. the guys got my utmost respect...he was one of my idols back when i began playing drums

man, can you imagine surviving that learjet crash tho?  Must've been scary as fuck.  I'm not a huge fan, just occasionally listen to a few of their singles.  Like "Adam's Song" and "Stay together for the kids" and that's all I'll listen to by them...

Yes, indeed, poor ppl who didn't make it...

doctors say hes in critical condition and most people who have critical burns dont survive

Post by: whodunit? on Sep 23, 2008, 10:35 PM
oh shit. he's an amazing drummer even though he didn't play in good bands. I hope he'll survive!

"On September 21, Dr. Fred Mullins, medical director of the Burn Center reported that Barker sustained second and third degree burns on his lower body and torso and is expected to fully recover within a year." - that's bad!

Too bad for him and I hope he gets better, but he is not such a great drummer to call him Legendary , just one average drummer that's it.

I am biased, but i think he is definitely a great drummer not only because of the numerous acts he has been a part of, but also to actually be in so many bands that are in different genres. I would put him up there with Josh Freese.

from what i've seen of him, on that mtv show he had, etc, he seemed like a total douche bag

Though all his musical endeavors sucked extremely shitty industry balls, he is a very talented drummer and like someone stated earlier; has exceptional rudimentary skills (it seems as if he started in a marching band/snare training of some sort)

to standup and walk away after a jet crash shows immense perseverance and the will to live, he deserves life, hopefully he will recover. i just hope he doesn't go back to some shitty MTV band once he's recorvered.

Yeah, he did marching snare I believe. He's very precise. Not my favourite drummer by any means, but as far as rudiments go, he's fucking immense.

this happened in my hometown-sux. apparently some guy saw the explosion and rushed to help, only to see the two on fire.  He had no idea who they were at the time (hes older) and said that they kept yelling "Oh my God," and for him to get the others in the plane...

hope they'll still come back :-[

It's messed up, those poor people who died and their families. R.I.P. Can't believe how lucky Travis and DJ AM were.

will travis be able to play again do you reckon?

obviously i hope so, but i'm unclear on  the exact extent of his burns. i've heard he was burnt waist down, and another story that mentioned his torso, so i don't know.
it's gonna be awhile though.

Suckers for him. Does getting burnt get rid of tattoos?

Also, Travis Barker isn't what i'd call an outstanding drumming he candrum but he's nothing special
