Tell me people.
Me, for starters haven't listened to deftones in a about 4 years.. daily.. like I used to. I listen to better music than them (IMO)
Since.. They (deftones did SNW) but, that wasn't the only reason why I "left them 'tones".. It was because.. There's much better music in the world, you all must have regocnized that.
Deftones is my favourite band, but it isn't my favourite music.
All the other music I listen to I eventually get tired of. Deftones are the only ones that I still wanna listen to after 8 yrs.
I haven't listened to them in a long time. I got burnt out. I like em but dont love em.
I still love them. They're perfect for me. They're heavy, soft, melodic, different from other bands, always doing new things, just perfect.
My best friend and Ican always listen to them in the car and it gets us pumped. Haha.
Because they're the only band I really, really like. Because I love the way their music sounds.
i think a lot of it has to do with chinos vocals, his style of singing kicks ass.if deftones do a cover it will automatically get good cause of chino but if an other band do covers of deftones songs it will surley be bad. frankly speaking i think a band like tool got more talent and are better musicians but i will always love deftones more cause of their style in music. undrar vad ljudbild heter på engelska
Still love 'em. Whether other music is 'better' or not is a redundant question in my opinion. Music is music, you either like it, or you don't.
wow that almost makes sense.. haha, I was drunk out of my mind making this thread.
I do listen to deftones sometimes and I don't hate them or anything.
I listen to them because I crave musical hugs.

yeah, pretty bullshit, but at least ppl have taken it seriously and typed what they feel about the subject.
thanks.
I know they're not such a great and perfect technical band, and there are thousands of better bands than them, who make them sound so simple... But I don't know, it's something like... Soul. Probably they're not as good as they were before (I don't know) but to me, they will always be doing awesome music. They're the first and only band which I really became a fan of, and they opened my eyes to other great music, a music I didn't know before I met them.
:'(
HAHA
well at least they still got talent to write really good songs..althought not all of them are hard hittin, the majority of them are..i will agree that there are good bands out there but deftones is one of the old bands(from late 80s-early 90s) to still be around and writing goood music rather than some bands just losin their touch( ability to write good songs).

Yeah, that's a one thing they do have, they still don't suck after all these years. There aren't many others.. Slayer did one of their best albums 20 years after "reign in blood".. Depeche Mode still has it.. But, not many others.
me like nsync and backstreetboys.

yeah dudes!!! if it weren't for them you wouldn't be here. I have times when I listen to other different music for months but then I listen to Deftones and everything changes, yeah I'm drunk so fuck it"!!! ;D
started listening to them when adrenaline was on its way and have been hooked ever since.
saw them live 1st time at warped tour in asbury park.nj
i got into them in late 1995, & i still think their music is really good. it's just good stuff, that's why i still listen. it's that simple
they're still my favorite band

Please enlighten me, Deftones is the only band that has staying power for me, I still listen to all of their albums. If there is such better music out there I'd like to know who.

As would I
They are still currently my favourite band... but I haven't listened to any of their music in a while, just chillin and waitin on new album really.
I've been more into my post-hardcore and drum and bass lately.
I never get burnt out on any band cause I listen to a CD until a know it from start to finish. Then I put it on the back burner so it still sounds fresh when I pop it in. I can go a long time without listening to deftones, but that doesn't change the fact that they are one of my all time favorites. To answer the original question you listen to deftones because -
Abe and Chi find the groove, Steph makes you nod your head, you can hear the vulnerabiliy in Chino's voice along with anger and everything in between, and Frank adds icing to the cake.

Pretty much.
okay, i like deftones because they make good music and they haven't confirmed yet, and seem very less likely to do so
even the guy who created this thread said it was gay and a stupid drunken post, and you guys are still posting in it. * shakes head *
So what? Don't see a reason why this thread should be locked or deleted or raped or whatever.
I still listen to Deftones and don't mind them.

I didnt say it should be locked or deleted. Just ignored
I go through phases...they're my favourite band in the whole world but sometimes I'll go for a couple of months not listening to them but as soon as I put them back in my cd player it's like I fall back in love with them over again!
They rock my world! haha
I don't really listen to deftones anymore. I was extremely fanatic about the band two years ago, but now I'm cured. I still consider them as one of my favourite band tho, because if it weren't for defones I might have missed all the good music I listen to nowadays.
They are my favorite band for the last 8 years. It's just the vibe in the music wich I can really associate with myself or something.
Its definatly not the best band I know but it sure is my favorite of all time.
Im referring to the guy who made the "Why do I still listen to the Deftones..." thread... THE FOOL you gotta think of it this way, you may get freaked out by listening to 'tones recent album but would you really want them to be another korn band (who may have made 1 or 2 good albums who played on the whole weird noises and downtuned effect ridden bass thing an have now turned out shite). You have to think of it as... you've never heard them before, this is a new album and this is these guys sound. I know people who got into deftones from the self titled album thought that was amazin showing them there earlier stuff they where made up. So what im saying is they are pushing boundaries because they love what they do and they dont wanna release another WP, ATF or any of the others coz that would be boring to listen to. Another reason why I think they where looking for a new producer is because they may have felt they had there time with terry date lets hope all goes well... Smiley
Umm.. I don't like Korn, I've listened to Deftones since '99 prolly, not since s/t.
And rest of that I know and agree with.
ps. stfu n00b
admittedly I was freaked out by listening to deftones self titled I think it's totally produced quite different from the other albums an it took me some time to get into it but iv grown to love an respect songs like Hexagram, Battle-Axe, bloody cape, minerva sheer heavyness which is what everyone goes on about wanting "Do another adrenaline or ATF" id say self titled was very rhythmic, very My bloody valentine ish the guitars are just massive i think stef has taken on a little bit of Kevin Shields come to think of his guitar playing...

"In retrospect now one of the best Deftones records ever, second only to White Pony. With the songs more direct and to the point, the eponymous album now seems the most apt follow-up to its spectacular predecessor. Though not as jagged, it is certainly the rawest produced Deftones record since Adrenaline, which would explain its constant likeness to Shoegaze. But while most other bands falling under this sub category are no more then blatant copycats, Deftones rather pay homage to My Bloody Valentine for being profound influences here."
"Still, this record has it's moments, especially "Minerva", possibly the best song they've ever recorded. I like this record mostly beacuse it sounds so much like Deftones meets My Bloody Valentine, the best band ever."
"...which ushers in the hitherto unimagined new genre of metalgazing. Someone's been listening to a lot of My Bloody Valentine during their time off."
An original thought would be nice. Don't pretend like you've never read anything likening the ST to My Bloody Valentine, it doesn't make you sound any more musically competent. Not trying to be mean, but c'mon man, you're not impressing anyone with that crap.

i still listen to the tones because it is sort of the soundtrack to my life
idono, every emotion or impulse i get has a certain deftones song to accompany it. its hard to explain
think about it. when youre spending some quality time with your girlfriend or something, there's digital bath for instance,.. when youre being sneaky and surprising, there's RX Queen, when youre angry and want to let loose, there's Hexagram..
im not talking about lyrics per se, just the whole of it, the sound they produce and thechills that some songs can give you in certain situations.
and thats why i listen to deftonses. yesterday, now and tomorrow.
easy..they're pure..kthxbye

That's right. Jesus would roll his eyes at this entire thread. ::)
to me they are still as hype when i first heard em seven years ago...its the combination of excellent song writing, differentiation in styles, and plain old awesomeness that has me hooked still, not mention team sleep...
unfortunately, i don't rerally listen to Deftones cds these days
though i am still watching live vids rather often
Deftones are the only band I can listen to over and over again, one thing is cause everytime I'm drunk or really high I find Minerva, Be Quiet and Drive, and Change to be breathtakingly beautiful and it completely changes the way I'm thinking at the time, which is hard to do when one is drunk haha, makes me a lot happier.
