thanks to this album I got into Deftones. defenately in my top 10 of all time.
Yeah, this one pretty much did it for me too.
definitely is one of my favorite cd's of all time......sweet sig by the way^^^^^
My roomates were listening to deftones the other day (it was strange to me to have two other people in the room who were deftones fans) and they were trying to figure out when WP came out (yeah they are a little slow) and I yelled over our make shift wall that it came out in 2000. Then I was like woh, I cant believe its been that fucking long.
Gosh, I thought this thread was about me! *stomps away*
hehe... nah srsly.. favorite.album.ever.
IT'S BEEN 8 YEARS?!?!
coincidentally, i've started listening to this again since last week and it brings back fond memories.

Haha, I thought it was about you too when I first came to it. I was thinking,
Oh how nice that they made an appreciation thread for her...
I wish I'd seen them live during the WP era... My boss saw them live twice then and said they were bloody awesome[er?].
Though... the vocalist from this band I know said he saw them over here during ATF when Will Haven came over and he said they were pretty bad live back then *shrugs*
Still, it REALLY doesn't seem that long since it came out. It was between then and their self-titled era that I got into them and it really doesn't seem that long at all.
this album got me into deftones > alternative > metal > good music
after 8 years it still feels fresh and unique

I still remember the day my brother didn't go to school just to get the album [limited edition]. He picked me up from my middle school and we just drove home. I didn't know what to expect at all.
Yeah, WP is their best album. It got me into Deftones. I had heard of them before but never really heard them. My ex gave me a copy and at first I didn't really care, but after listening to it non-stop on an eventful bus trip from Texas to Tenn I fell in love with it... and broke up with my girlfriend. She was a bitch, but WP was sooooooo worth that relationship.

White Pony - the best album EVER!
white pony is a pretty damn good cd.
deftones are part of a small handful of bands that i listened to then and still listen to on a regular basis.

Post of appreciation even though Around the Fur will always be better.
j/k
Nah rly.
Battle-Axe, does this mean that Battle-Axe is your favourite song?
When WP first came out I remember going to my friends house after school and listening to it and I thought it was shit lol. I was into really heavy music back then so the only song I liked off it was Elite. Then a year later I gave it another listen and realised what a complete shmuck I'd been. I stil prefer Self-Titled album though :)
i really cant even listen to white pony anymore... its just one of those albums that i never feel like listening to anymore.. actually. i rarely ever listen to the deftones at all anymore
but the last time i heard i white pony. i was tripping my balls off. and it sounded fucking perfect. i highly recommend that album while your tripping
I'm Not Here.
This Isn't Happening.
Hahaha. I have to admit, I haven't listened to Deftones in a while either. I was listening to them so much and so often that I was almost getting sick of them. It didn't have the same appeal, so I've listened sparsely over the past couple of months and started listening more to Team Sleep and other various songs/artists. I don't want to be burnt out on them ya know?
Moderation is key, even in music.
Yeah this was the first full Deftones album I listend to, first songs were One weak and My own summer
ps: ry that sig is funny as hell
yeah Fireflyry, that sig is hilarious!

One of my favourites, yeah. It's the intro melody that does it for me - I've always thought they could take that and turn it into a real mellow/acoustic song :]

Same.
white pony is what got me into deftones... like so damn good... anyways, i prefer self titled and all... but still each one is a materpiece, so we cant really choose, deftones are deftones = earth 8)
around the fur is deftones' peak. lyrically and musically.
It was way ahead of its time. Not just the music but everything around the record. The promotion, artwork, launch etc.
The guys were at their creative peak and owned the absolute fuck out of every other band around at the time who even considered themselves to be in the same league as the 'tones.
It's an absolute masterpiece.
i got arrested the day it came out, it was even playing while i was being arrested

That's kick-ass. I wish I had a cool memory to go along with the album, but no, I just love it. And I'm sort of annoyed because I can't find the CD right now. I'm sure I stuck it in another CD case while driving, but that remains to be seen...

Agreed. I listened to this album just yesterday and it still has its charms. :)
But WP has great reply value.
ok ok this isn't about the newest album. Its WHITE PONY APPRECIATION.
Feiticeira is one of my favorite songs. A long with Pink Maggit at night time.
These are the songs that I am digging a lot from WP right now.
Knife Prty
Feiticeira
Korea
Teenager
pink maggit is incredible. and knife prty..... amazing
the whole album is great, Feiticeira is such a better starting track than bts(which i dont consider a true wp track. the true wp is june 20th 2000 release)... it's such a classic deftones tune now, it's a shame no one knows how to pronounce it. they should have kept it "new murderer", then maybe fieticeira in (parenthasies)
man, it takes all i have not to throw white pony on. i haven't heard it in years, on purpose, but i get the urge to listen to it a lot. i'm giving the first 4 albums a huge break. maybe if deftones keep their word & get Eros out in 2008, in honor of them actually not delaying an album, i'll listen to all the albums in a row. doubt that will happen though, they'll delay Eros by 6 months at least(june 09 earliest is my call)
White Pony is such an amazing album that it's hard to choose a favourite song cos they're all just as great as each other. I probably would go with the songs that have been listed so far, but also add Digital Bath. That will always have a special place in my heart cos it's the first Deftones song I ever heard.
digital bath beats them all
Great album, to many good songs.
This album is timeless.
I remember putting some sweet-smelling incense while listening to the album. an atmosphere of a mystery. and lots of wine.

Pink Maggit - best track ever.

i was just joking. all the deftones albums have 12 tracks or fewer. its a shame especially when there are so many b-sides left un-used... tis a sad sad thing
I can't describe how much I love this album, it's got everything that I need from an album, highs, lows, aggression and emotion.

Yes let's appreciate this album for welcoming the masses into a cult status bands career, let's appreciate this record for not selling out but still selling out. Let's appreciate this album for getting all the indie fucks to come along. Let's appreciate this album to let the girlies worship and play all over chino. I understand they're two different songs with different lyrics. I was just under the impression that the chorus from Back to School was the same as in Pink Maggit with the exception of "kneed her in the throat" being changed.
I climbed your arms
and you pulled away
new cavity moved into my heart today
this album changed everything for me. the first time I heard anything from it I listened to it from beginning to end. From feiticeira to pink maggit I was blown away, emotions going along with each song like the wizard of oz and dark side of the moon. completely redefined music for me.
My main taste in music changed the day I listened to White Pony.
We'll stop to rest on the moon
And we'll make a fire
I'll steal a carcass for you
Then feed off the virus

a friend told me that he read somewhere that "back to school" was something that chino pulled out of his ass to make fun of the record label and show that he could pull a hit single out of his butthole.... it was originally pink maggit but after the whole dispute about not havin knife party be a single, chino had to turn pink maggit into a more poppy version and rerecord it, thus, back to school was pulled out of his ass.. atleast thats what ive heard... so its the same song :p
That's why it stinks.
I heard the change single when i was about 12 living in socal. I immediately picked up the album and they have been my favorite band ever since. White Pony did it for me. Digital Bath instantly became my fav song! i live the opening with the atmospheric background sounds
