this track is incredible....
maybe only cherry waves is better, but i dunno. as of right now it's riviere
maybe not the best, but definitely one of them.
riviere would've sounded great 8 years ago.
i dont think it's like anything they've done before, the whole vibe of it. it has it's own unique life to it
agreed. it should've been longer though.
The song has natalie portman and red sky reminiscences. Oh, and shares notes with digital bath. Nothing original to be honest, but it does have a different vibe.
Anyway, the best SNW quiet song in my opinion is the instrumental, just for all the little tricks that has here & there.
well, its among them, i think its one of the better songs, not at first, but ive played through the album a lot, and its pretty good
Hump is still better
It's a great song, could've been a whole lot better without that butcher SLOWpez.
oh, and when the drums kick in and chino's voice just fucking SOARS is probably the best moment on the album for me.
Butt Fucking Residue is my favorite song. That was the name of it ..right?
i love it! its my favorite on the album. just the last three songs. combat, kim, and riviere. AMAZING!!
Just wondering, am I the only one who's noticed that the beginning of Riviere and The Boys Republic sound alot alike? I dunno if Chino wrote TBR on guitar or not but it does kinda sound like something in his style. Anyway just check out this little mp3 I made [yes, I am that bored at the moment, ha]:

snw swings from plain boring to horse shit ... and because riviere is a pretty mediocre little meaningless tune- it means its on the better half of the songs. cheery waves is just awful, the chorus yoOUuOuOU makes me sick, it sounds so fucking childish. the more eros steps away from snw the better it will be.

the difference is damone doesn't suck asscrack.
i like combat... always thought it would be a good show opener if they could get it down

same here, I personally think that's the best song on the album. for some reason they won't play it though. according to Chino it's because he can't sing and play it at the same time.... which sound like bull to me.
yeah that is bull.. combat is the best song without a doubt!
chino plays guitar on combat?? anyways, speaking of underrated deftones songs, i was listening to deathblow today in my car and realized how fucking awesome abes drumming is.
Riviére is fucking great, but I would say that Combat and Kimdracula are the best songs

So why doesn't he just get Stef
who is the guitar player to play while he sharpens his voxs? Maybe it's a pride thing, who knows.
My faves from SNW would be Rapture (it would kick so much ass if it were beefed up to the sound on s/t 2003), Xerces (I don't consider it a "true" Deftones song, but hey, listen to the instrumental demo, it's a very nicely written song - before SNW came out, me and my ex-girlfriend was listening to the SNW Sampler in the car at night on the way home and she said the song sounded 'pretty', I smiled and agreed ;) ), Rats, Combat, Kim, and Riviére (to me it sounds like if Digital Bath were a person, it would be a person that just got quit drugs [got clean]... I know that sounds weird but I mean that by the personality and atmosphere of the song). I'd say I like about 1/2 of SNW, the rest is kinda eh... and I enjoy tracks like Teenager and Luck You but Pink Cellphone, (*insert sound of toilet flushing).
riviere <3
Riviere is one of the best but not THE BEST song on SNW. If it were a little longer and the bridge wasn't so uninspired it would've been better. Combat is the best song on SNW.

Yes I do love Riviere, Combat is best though...
I was actually in bed the other night, and I had fallen asleep listening to Saturday Night Wrist. I woke up who knows how many songs later, and Riviere was playing; it was incredible. Maybe it was because I was still in that dream-like, groggy state (or debatably fucked up), but I saw the song in a completely different light. But I still like Xerces.
And agreed on Combat being the best song. I read somewhere that they were trying to get Combat down so they could play it live without loss of quality, and I hope they get to that. Beware is a great song too, but I hate hearing it live; it loses its enrapturing quality and that's what makes the song.
i think they're really good at beware live, really good
beware is probably one of their greatest accomplishments
it's also much better live.
Riviere is definitely in the top 3 along with Beware and Combat.
Wheres the Rapture love?
Anyway agreed it's a great song but saying any song is "The Bestest" is totally subjective.

Rapture (aside from PC) was the hardest song to get into. I agree that Beware is amazing though.
why the fuck can they not play combat live!?!? i really dont get it.... i need definitive answers ???
oh rapture is an awesome fucking raw song
i loved snw, from beggining to end.
Amen.
I could say other stuff but you post sums it up.
Rapture,
Rapture is ok but I wouldn't go mad on it cos of Chino's vocals.
I love Riviere though. It starts off gentle and then kicks in, which is something I adore about Deftones songs.
But over all Hole in the Earth or Beware are my favourite SNW tracks. Oh and I actually quite like Mein!

Thats the most stupid thing i ever read so far at this board. The Live versions were 1000 times better, especially the chorus with that effect in the background that made it more spooky
uh, second wave of snw discussion is on?? Well, now, after more than a year, i realize that i miss old Chino's vocals. Too bad they were so different on Saturday Night Wrist. But anyhow, this album is really good. Those moments on HITE still take me

According to Steph, Chino needs to learn his guitar parts.
According to Chino, They can't pull it off live yet...
Fact: It has been played in rehearsals this year so just a matter of time till they do it
Rats! Rats! Rats!
i like the whole album....but now that were are voicing our opinions....ive could've done without pink cellphone...that song is horrible...the beats tight but the chick talking is stupid
It definitely was my favorite song off the album when I first heard it. I guess I would probably say it is, but I love most of the album.
1. Kim Dracula
2. Hole in the Earth
3. Riviere
4. Combat
5. Cherry Waves
That is all.................shit I forgot Xerces, Yeah as much flack as this record seems to take on this board I still dig it....
riviere has that white pony quality to it, which is hard to pin point, but basically means its a slow starter but after lots of listens starts to show its class before rising to the top.
has riviere ever been pplayed live?
I wonder though , why would you write a song if your never gonna perfrom it live ?

You've got a lot to learn buddy.
I love riviere..very underrated track on the record. love it as soon as the drums enter. I've recently noticed abe does a fill in there that he also does towards the end of ystb.
I'm not sure if I'd say it's the best but it's definitely one of the best off the album. It's a great song and it fits perfectly as the albums closer. I really like the vocals and the production, I just don't see the fault with it.
hahaha lol.....dude holding a glass of shit!.....fucking brit......this cali shit foo.....you gonna block me..why cuz im a fan...come on dude....fuck you i deserve to be here just like the rest of us DEFTONES fans

what's going on?
my guess is that he's one of those % of people who are predisposed to develop schizophrenia and when smoking marijuana with todays very high thc-levels - a psychosis like this is triggered. only a few times is needed and he will end up like this. seems he feels persecuted and hear voices or sees threat text messages about banning that aren't there. he probably thinks he was talking to a dangerous fantasy person (or persons) here who are after him. it's sad really

He's talking about the mystery substance in your hand Vesanic. Apparently you locked his Fan club 2 page, so he got drunk and high n started talking shit. The real question is what are you going to do about it?

RUN
every time a new topic is moved to the bullshit thread, I get a little happy. don't know why. it's not that it makes me go from bottomless depression to euphoria, but just a little little bit happier for a while
haha awesome
"the smell of Chino's balls"----------BAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA!
Best line ever!
I wonder why he thought you were British.
