Title: Hopesfall
Post by: Doofaes on May 28, 2007, 05:36 AM
Anybody pick up their latest, Magnetic North?

After being hugely disappointed with A Types, I decided to give these guys another shot after listening to a few tracks on the internet, and I ended up being really impressed... Its still hugely different from Satellite Years (a great album in my opinion), but it has definite throwbacks to that album's intensity, and they seem to have breathed life into the ideas they were trying out with A Types. The whole album flows really well, and has some really cool spacey guitar work, lots of trippy delay etc... and then a few pretty heavy moments. Im not the only one to think it, but the album actually really seems to have some heavy Deftones similarities, both in overall sound, and most notably with the singer's singing and screaming... he seems to have a different sound every album, and on this his screams sound like ATF Chino, and he's all about the slurred phrases that are almost moaned at times and tricky to understand....

Overall a real solid album, and it seems to me that it would be something that Deftones fans would enjoy. Anyone else here dig it?

hey, thanks for the download, I only had a few tracks from frailty of words (Broken Heart of a Traitor is a glorious song).

Zevaka, I guess now theyre kinda spacey rock with some elements of screamo/hardcore... they used to be much more intense, but they still had some cool melodic sections. I'd reccomend checking out the album Satellite Years, and then Magnetic North (they are both very different sounding, so if you dont like one, you might still like the other). Track 3 of the first EP that ignore the fashion posted, The End of an Era, is a very good representation of what they used to be like, and an amazing song all around. You can listen to a few of their newer tracks at www.myspace.com/hopesfall

well since i seem to miss everything, i actually was not aware that this guys had split out, due to some problems with trustkill. wich is fuck up, cause this guys totally rocked.

the good news (at list) is that i just read http://www.blueera.net/?page=mainnews&id=9 wich pretty much made my night.
