Boys republic. I'm digging a lot the positive vibe of the melodies. IT's like happy & agressive at the same time, and It was eclipsed by nice b-sides like can't even breathe so as to pay it attention.

was listenin to rats a lot but havent in a couple weeks.  if i pick a random deftones song to rock its usually birthmark, teething, boys republic, damone or nosebleed.

Weird enough, i cant listen to SNW i like it, but then again it's not my style to much. I usually listen to Feiticiera,Korea,Headup and Lifter sometimes it changes for me because most Deftones songs are just that damn good.

Why don't they play Battle Axe live do you think? It's quite a personal song, about a girl I presume. Maybe it's so personal to the point where it brings back too many bad memories when played live... But if you look at the lyrics for Minerva, that's even more personal. Maybe they don't play much off S/T for the fact that it is a very dark and personal record, and brings back too many bad memories and playing the songs live will some how relive these bad memories so they choose not to play the songs live..? That's my theory any way...

I think so too, but they do play Kimdracula..

the most personal and sad song in my opinion is "hole in the earth" and they play it every night.

I just recently grabbed the Bob Ezrin demos off of here, so I've been listening to them alot lately, I would have loved to hear what Chino and full production sound would have done on some of these tracks.  I honestly think they could have made Saturday Night Wrist a double album with no problem at all.

Hmmmmm maybe, but Hole In The Earth is about how Chino was going through some shit with the rest of his band mates and IMO, they play Hole In The Earth live now out of pure irony to say 'when I wrote this song we were on the verge of breaking up, but look at us now we're stonger than ever!'

Not that it's really any of my business, but Kimdracula is about Chi's ex wife?

I still think the whole S/T record is a bad place for the Deftones, especially as their so much happier at the moment they don't want to bring back all those shitty bad memories of ex wives and girlfriends... Which is a shame cos S/T is my favourite album...

i do admit i hate the song dearly, BUT, BUT if abe would have killed the drums fstly like in mein during the slow chorus insted of slowing with chino, or maybe more poppy like adrenaline/atf-esque the song would be a great. its just so flawed. but trust me, mein is no better... and as for riviere it should have been exponentially longer even though its one of my favs. snw is just weak and should have been aborted before birth like a flake spartan child tossed of Mt. badassness or whatever. AND fuck 300 that movie made me want to die... sorry guys i know im venting a lil here ::)

Nicely put. :) I felt the same way; it was one of the songs I didn't mind skipping. I sort of rediscovered it after it came on while I was driving, and it just fit the mood so perfectly I haven't been able to shake it off since then. Yeah, it's a heavy song, but one that you can sleep or mellow out to.
